WELCOME to all members of the club for the 2010 season from all committee members. Let's hope it is a successful and enjoyable one. The start of the season will soon be here, and so now is the time to repair the boat, order those parts, find the drysuit/wetsuit and check the sails/battens. Remember you gain 10% discount if you pay the club subs and fees early. First race day is Sunday 21st March!!

THE FITTING OUT SUPPER is on Sat 20th March. Venue to be the club house. American supper similar to last few years. Stuart will provide hot jacket potatoes. Arrange to bring salads, meats, rice, pasta, breads, puddings etc and beverages as last year with Stuart. A quiz of some sort will finish the evening!

THE FIXTURE LIST IS READY for this season. Simon and Chris have worked very hard to fit the races into Thursdays and Sundays so that most angles are covered regarding traveller events, etc. Also a new series will start on a Tuesday for those stragglers who are free to participate! Lots of names were banded about for the name of this series involving the words old, geezers, gits, pensioners, retirees, coffin dodgers, grumpy, arthritic, but it has been decided to call it the "Tuesday Afternoon Series". The Ventnor race is Sunday 6th June which was a fantastic day last year and the Shanklin Regatta is Sunday 1st August.

THE NATIONALS this year are at Netley 13th to 15th August. It will be a 3 day event only. We have a team cup to defend!! As it is just over the water it would be good to have a large number of club members enter. The Sport Nationals are at Swanage SC 8-10th May which is a wonderful venue.

THE CADETS hope to follow on from last years success!! Simon did a fantastic job encouraging and motivating a new crew of cadets. This year the club is training six adult members to become RYA Dinghy Instructors , and aim to purchase 5 new laser picos . Simon is trying all avenues of funding and is having a fair amount of success!!

THE WEB SITE has a new look thanks to Liam, who has kindly taken over as webmaster from Chris. Looks even better than before and easy to navigate. Results should appear as fast as Keith over the start line!

THE BOAT PARK which we rent off Southern Water has to be kept reasonably tidy and access to the pump covers may be needed in an emergency. Your boat may have to be moved if it is parked over a metal cover whilst work is carried out.

THE SAFETY BOAT has been looked over by Sean and the engine given an overhaul and MOT. Work is being done to make the trailer trolley more robust and user friendly. All hands on deck please to take the boat out and back on race days! It is hoped to have a regular safety boat crew this year.

BOAT INSURANCE please check yours is up to date!

HAPPY SAILING
