Sprint 15 TT at Oxford Sailing Club

Four members of Shanklin Sailing Club took part in Sprint 15 Association traveller event at Farmoor Reservoir on Sunday the 6th December.

The wind was just enough for racing with frost coming out of the ground and a weak Winter sun.

In the first race, Stuart Pierce from Shanklin got a good start and held first or second places with National Champion Stuart Snell for most of the race until another Shanklin sailor Paul Grattage overhauled him to take second, with Snell ahead at the line.

In the second of the two races the two hotshots Snell and Grattage were both on the course side at the start which gave Liam Thom clear air to get his boat ahead of the fleet. Thom maintained that lead for over two laps until Snell, who had come back through more than a dozen boats, outpointed him and took the lead before the final windward mark. Grattage also caught Thom up but couldn't pass and finished third.

Shanklin finished with four sailors in the top six.

Shanklin Sailing Club is very grateful for the sponsorship it receives from Wightlink Ferries.
