Bank holiday round-up

Postby Yvonne-Pike » August 31st, 2020, 11:06 am

A blustery northerly kept things interesting on Sunday and started the action by speeding Stuart to a very comfortable win in the Fox race, and crowned champion of the series.

In the second race (Sprint Series II), Liam held out for the win to leave the series on a knife-edge between himself and Mark with just one point in it.

It was good to see new members Ben and Bernard gaining valuable experience on their boats and our race course with help and advice from fellow racers, and we hope to see much more of them both in the future.

The final race of the day was the trio of Ladies, Novices and Juniors Cups. Kevin sailed an exemplary race to claim the Novice Cup, whilst Todd and Jane proved worthy champions for the Juniors' and Ladies' Cups respectively.

With many thanks to Keith for a long stint in the race box, to Les for chaperoning on the water and to Kim for quietly collecting rubbish and digging out small trees from the boatpark single-handedly when she thought no-one was watching.

Racing resumes on Tuesday lunchtime with the Tuesday Afternoon Series V, and the first of the September Series on Thursday evening. Please note the earlier timing (6.15pm) as we head into autumn.

See you on the water soon :)
