I was just reading the updated class rules on the Sprint15 web page and noticed this:

5.0. MEASUREMENT

5.3. A boat shall be allowed to race only if it satisfies the requirements for a valid Measurement Certificate. Boats without cocktail cabinets in each hull shall carry correction weights.

As a lot of boats are old and have no certificate's Do we have to have to get one.
If so where can we get a certificate.


5.1. The host club shall provide facilities for inspection and measurement of boats

5.2. The Committee shall appoint an inspector. The official inspector shall have the right to inspect all boats at his discretion.


Will we have to do this for the Championships next year?

I read that too. I think the correction weight for no cocktail cabinet should be very substantial.

I have it on good authority (his worshipfullness the class chairman) that boats without the necessary storage compartements (cocktail cabinets to the wineos) should carry 2 lemonade bottles filled with sand (they don't have to be in the shape of a lighthouse and filled with Alum Bay sand) but they are particularly usefull when going to windward in a blow as they can be used as movable ballast. Obviously the main drawback being when one is thirsty and you pick the wrong water bottle, it can have a very drying effect.

Can we use 2 ltr bottles, just for that bit more weight.

Dragged along by chains, or perhaps tied to the rudders.

Don't let my good lady know I carry cocktail cabinets on my boat, pleeeease!
