Yes thats really good, perfect aspect as they can't see what I'm doing to my boat. Thanks Liam, ready to throw some filler onto your boat in appreciation when the weather warms up a bit.

The camera seems to have moved to the right a bit and is listing to port. Perhaps it needs some duck tape.

Apparently it was the hand of Keith that moved the camera. It wasn't pointing directly at his boat so he moved it.

Should have put the bloody thing up a pole.

Two cars have just left the car park at the same time. I wonder if there was an assignation going on. :o

Wow - Webcam looks great.

No longer will I be able to tell the wife I'm off having an affair - she'll know straight away that I'm sailing again !

Its great that you've got a webcam, its the only reason I registered!! How about going one step further and installing a weather station with live weather details on the same page. That way you could see that it was a force 10 gale as well as watching the waves. No need for me to log into the Beach Bar N Grill to see the sea conditions now as your picture is much better.

It's definitely on our minds. The main difficulty is that the club house is sheltered from prevailing winds and Easterlies will bounce back off the cliffs. Hopefully we will get something sorted before the start of the season.

Logged in users of the web cam, can now enlarge the image by clicking on it - assuming they are on Firefox, Chrome or Safari.

This does not increase the resolution of the image but it may help the more elderly patients to check on people tweeking their forestays.

I have made a page with the last sixteen snapshots from the web cam, taken hopefully on the hour between 6am and 9pm.

Because it's night. The sun will rise in the morning.

I sent them up every minute to test so there are loads of black pictures.

I apologise, I presumed that as you said, "I have made a page with the last sixteen snapshots from the web cam, taken hopefully on the hour between 6am and 9pm"
That it had been done earlier, and again I presumed wrongly that there may be a problem and you might have wanted to know about it.

I have made an archive page which will list all the snapshots starting from this morning. It will only be available to view if you are logged into the forum.

P.S. Geoff has been busy.

I have got the web cam hosted by a third party so we have much more bandwidth available to us. Also Internet Explorer users shouldn't need to install an Active X control.

Let me know how you get on.

Yes thanks much better, now if we can just focus it a bit we will be able to make out the burgees and tell which way the wind is blowing, that is if Erling is not around.

The web cam is clearly very popular and as a result I have had to reduce the size of the picture to allow it to get through the very limited bandwidth we have at the club house.

Please do not abuse this finite resource. By all means use the web cam to take a peak at the sea state and weather in Shanklin, but do not use it as a replacement for the telly.

Thank you for your co-operation.

I have made some highly technical adjustments (pointed the router aerial in a different direction) and the webcam now has a much better connection to the router.

I have put the video back, and as long as we don't abuse it (using as a screen saver) then we should be able to keep it as video. I think it should be OK for two concurrent users.

Fingers crossed.
