Postponement flag

So what's the format with regards to the said flag, do you stick it up some pole and call that it or is there some other "bit" that you do, can it be any flag pole? As you can tell I've now become vaguely interested although old dogs and new tricks could come into play, and I now believe this thursday is some sort of anniversary of why this has appeared on the forum, sailing's more complicated than I thought!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
