Push the Boat Out

Open Day

Shanklin Sailing Club is holding an open day on the 13th May between 9.30am and 1pm. Anybody can come along to Little Hope Beach at Shanklin and try out sailing on a Sprint 15 catamaran or a Laser Pico dinghy. You will be taken out with experienced sailors and you can do as much of the sailing as you want or just enjoy the ride.

No experience is necessary and there is no charge.

There will be a barbecue at the sailing club.

Newcomers' Race

The next day we are holding a race for newcomers at 9.30am. Again, there is no charge, no experience is necessary and you will be taken out with experienced sailors on their own boats. You can steer the boat or just pull the ropes. There will be various prizes. You need to be at the club by 8.30am ideally.

What to wear

If you have a wet suit or dry suit please bring that. Wet suit boots are ideal, but trainers will do very well as a substitute. We have plenty of buoyancy aids, spray jackets and a small number of wet suits we can lend out. We launch from the beach so it is inevitable that you will get wet below the knees. Hopefully it will be really warm and we can all wear shorts.
