Resumption of sailing

Dear Shanklin SC Members,

There was a collective sigh of relief across the whole of the IOW last week when the government announced we are that lucky few in the cherished Tier 1.

Please see the attached PDF from the RYA:

From the beginning of Wednesday, December 2nd grassroot sports – including sailing – will be allowed to resume, and clubs and marinas can reopen. This means that SSC members will be able to access the boat park from Wednesday.

Meeting with others reverts back to the “rule of six” and members are reminded to adhere to the latest government guidelines. Please note that we are no longer in our racing season which means that we cannot have “any number of boats” together on the water – a maximum of six persons per group. The club-house remains closed for the time-being.

Your SSC Covid sub-committee is meeting on Thursday to discuss the latest information, and will update you as soon as possible on how we will proceed into the winter months.

Thank you.

Yvonne
