Memo to members
Dear MembersWe are delighted to inform you that in line with National guidance sailing activities will be able to recommence from Monday 29th of March. We share your frustration in not being able to access the boatyard in recent weeks and thank you for your patience and adhering to the National lockdown rules.
The full committee met digitally this week to discuss how we can facilitate sailing safely while still following National guidance and social distancing. This is only the first step of relaxing lock down rules consequently can members please note;
- • Social distancing must continue to be maintained
• Members must not congregate in groups of more than 6
• The clubhouse and facilities remain closed apart from race officer access.
We are all set to start next week with our usual schedule of racing. The website has the full list of races (no printed card this year due to the Covid-uncertainty) and the all-important duty-rota. We are very fortunate again to have a number of individuals who are doing the lions-share of the Race box and Patrol boat, so most have only a couple of duties across the whole season. If you are unable to cover your allotted time please let Yvonne know (with as much notice as possible!) so we can reschedule you.
We have taken the opportunity to update the Sailing Instructions and bring in line with the new Covid environment, so please have a read through on the website.
It’s been a long winter of no sailing and we will all be a bit rusty. There is lots of advice and tips on the SSC website for safe sailing, and please remember to sail within your limits.
Regular inspections of the clubhouse have taken place during lockdown and all is well. There are regular maintenance jobs that would usually have been completed over the winter. We hope members will be able to help complete these in the coming weeks, look out for requests for help on the forum.
Thank you once again for your patience and understanding during these challenging times. I’m sure we are all looking forward to seeing each other again and getting out on the water.
