Sandown Regatta 2023

Sandown Regatta is on Sunday the 13th August.

All sailing boats are welcome in any format. There are some big cups to be won.

There will be two races back to back with the warning signal for the first race at 9.55am.

We will be using the Sailing Instructions of Shanklin Sailing Club and that is the Organising Authority.

The start will be from the end of Sandown Pier.

It is intended that the course will be port rounding and this will be signified by a red flag. If a green flag is shown then the course will be starboard rounding.

The start line will be formed by the red or green flag on the pier and a tall, narrow yellow buoy. The finish line will be the same.

There will be three marks, which will be large yellow buoys. The first mark will be to windward.

Competitors must cross the start / finish line each lap.

The start sequence will be 5,4,1,0 with the class flag Echo and preparatory flag Pappa.

The course will be shortened with a Sierra flag.

Any boat with a Portsmouth Yardstick can take part. Any boats without a PY but with a SCHRS PY lookalike number can compete with that number multiplied by 0.956.

Chart shown below is a possible course and will be weather dependent.

Results will be shown on the Open Results page.
